Our story starts with our founder, Ndey Yassin Camara, who was born and raised in the capital of The Gambia, Banjul. This is where she did all of her schooling from primary to high school. High school for Yassin, was quite memorable, but it wouldn’t have been a success without the help of her teachers, mentors, and the many opportunities she was exposed to from the start. She had a strong support system and recognizes that not every student has the same privileges.

In 2017, she was offered a full scholarship by the Mastercard Foundation and moved to Montreal, Canada to pursue her Bachelors degree at McGill University. As a Mastercard scholar, she was further exposed to a greater network of people committed to supporting her development. Currently, she is a graduate student at McGill, a wife, and an occasional content creator. Yassin started BHS Academy to provide high school students in The Gambia the same opportunities she had to flourish after graduation.
